Trick-or-Treating in Fulton

my darling lion!!
I made Averi 2 different Halloween costumes for this year...crazy huh? Crazy because she has 2 costumes for one date AND that I made them!! It was just too simple (no sewing involved whatsoever!!) plus, she was just too darn cute in it that I had to make her another one! So to get some use out of both of them, we took her to Fulton's Downtown Trick-or-Treating Tuesday night. She got more candy than she needs b/c she really doesn't need any of it! But we got candy anyway...afterall, it is a Halloween tradition!

Can't Wait for Halloween!!!

Halloween is just around the corner and we CANNOT wait!! It's a little more special this year because we're celebrating Averi's 2nd birthday early! Her actual birthday is not until November 20th, but it's just too hard planning a party with Thanksgiving to think about also! So, this year we're having a Halloween party and sharing it with her cousin Dawson (he turned 2 on October 20th). It's been a lot of work & planning, but it'll be worth it! Kids in costumes, a bouncy/slide thing, a hayride for Trick-or-Treating, lots of food, and of course CAKE & CANDY!!! Can't wait to see the children all dressed up!!

In order to prepare for our Halloween festivities, Monday night we decided to carve one of our many pumpkins. Averi had alot of fun getting her hands all slimey! I tell you, she is definitely not afraid of getting a little dirty!! Actually, I think she'd rather be that way!!
wondering why it was taking so long...
entertaining herself with a pail hat!
excited to see the finished product!!
"MINE!!" one her favorite words these days...agh!

Fall Festival 2008

We took Averi to our church's annual Fall Fest on Sunday night. It was crazy!! There were so many people & children, it was a little overwhelming. As soon as we arrived, Averi walked in the children's parade of costumes. You could tell she was experiencing sensory overload! She wouldn't smile at all...she was too busy looking around & just taking it all in! We listened to the Praise band, ate, and went Trunk-or-Treating, and watched a magic show! It was good Catholic fun!!

Holley Farm

On Saturday, we took a family trip to Holley Farm in Tremont, MS (just outside of Fulton) to check out their pumpkin patch. My brother Ray & his family and my sister Row & her son Dalton went also. It's the first year of operation for Holley Farm and it was a hit! We really enjoyed ourselves...it was fun, as well as educational! That's right---a pumpkin patch that is educational!! They take you on a tractor- pulled wagon ride down Bull Mountain Creek & gave a short history lesson about the land and its surroundings. Well, not really that short, the ride is about 45 minutes to an hour long. And at the end of the ride, they drop you off to pick a pumpkin from the vine! We finally found a real pumpkin patch! They also had beautiful sunflower fields, a 5 acre corn maze, a barrel train, 30 foot slide, tree swings, petting area of farm animals, and great food!! After 3 fun-filled hours on the farm, we came home with 3 beautiful pumpkins & lots of new memories!!

I think Allen enjoyed the slide more than Averi!!

just when we thought we had picked the right one, Averi spotted this baby punkin

Thanks Andrea!!

Andrea, owner of The Metal Daisy, painted Averi's table & chair set and toy box for us. She did such a wonderful job on our pieces...we love them! Thanks Andrea for all your hard work!!!

Say What?...A Sunday in Oxford?!!?

Yes, after spending Saturday in Starkville(see previous post), we travelled to no man's land---Oxford. What for? Certainly not to cheer, but for PUNKINS (as Averi would say)!! We loaded up in the Prestage's expedition Sunday morning and drove to Oxford. When I say we loaded up, that's exactly what I meant! A Prestage (whom shall remain nameless) had this grand idea to keep the babies in the middle row (at opposite ends), the mommies to sit in the 3rd row, while the daddies minded the front. Obviously, we were not using our smarts this morning when we all agreed to this, but piling into the car was a sight to see!! Since the carseats were in the middle, we couldn't fold a seat down to get to the back! So you'll just have to use your imagination! haha! Too bad I don't have a picture of the mommy pile up! Once in Oxford, we had a delicious lunch at Old Venice with even more of the Prestage clan and then we were off to see the punkins! We had great time with some great company!!
Just one more thing---Can anyone please give me some tips on how to get a 2 year old to look & smile for the camera? If so, please let me know!! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Saturday in Starkville!

We woke up early Saturday morning (after little sleep Friday night) to make another trip to Starkville. State played Vandy at home and WON!! They finally added a SEC win to their record! Go State! We had a great time tailgating with friends, watching the game, and then tailgating even more! Averi had so much fun playing with Hagan & Addison...but I think Bryce might have a little competition.

Averi loves her some Joey!!
